Find a Quote by Describing What You Need

Searching quote sites by keyword gets you the same famous lines everyone else found. Well Said works the other way around: describe the moment in your own words, and it finds real quotes that fit, with who said them.

Try a request:

I feel stuck and don’t know what’s next.

You need hope to get you going, but then by taking action, you generate more hope. It’s a circular thing.
Jane Goodall
The only courage that matters is the kind that gets you from one moment to the next.
Mignon McLaughlin
It always seems impossible until it’s done.
Nelson Mandela

How it works

  1. Describe what you need. A feeling, a moment, a person, or a topic: “my friend just started chemo,” “opening line for a talk on teamwork,” or “something about rest that isn’t a cliché.”
  2. Well Said searches for quotes that fit. It looks in its own collection of quotes and Bible verses and on the web, so you’re not limited to a fixed catalog.
  3. Narrow it down. Keep the conversation going: ask for something shorter, older, or from Scripture.
  4. Keep what fits. Save a quote to your library, or send it to someone in Messages or Mail.

Real quotes, not invented ones

General chatbots can write a convincing quote that nobody ever said, or attach a real one to the wrong person. Well Said is built to bring back quotes that exist, each with the person who said it. Like any search, it can still get one wrong, so before a quote goes into a speech or onto a card, it’s worth asking where it came from.

Ask about any quote

Found a line but not sure what it means, or where it’s from? Ask about it, and Well Said explains its meaning and its origin in plain language.

Other good places to look

For famous lines by a known author, Wikiquote lists quotes with their sources, and Quote Investigator traces where popular quotes really come from. Well Said is for when you know the moment but not the words. For a start, see quotes and Bible verses for hard times.
